Your first impression will likely be Gena answering the phone or an email. You will build a solid relationship with her as she walks you through the process of what Unique Landscaping can do for you. She will also be the first one to take your requests & return your emails. She is a true office manager and gate keeper. Your needs will be passed on appropriately.
A degreed horticulturist from Tarleton State University, her passion is appropriately plants. What Gena likes about her job is hearing Kurt or Donna talk about the plants and how they fit into the landscape, everything from visual characteristics to special or adaptive needs. A true gate keeper, checking everyone’s office work, manipulating the schedules & resources and keeping people focused is her greatest talent. Sometimes her days feel like she is herding cats as her responsibility is to make sure the next person in line does their job.
Under Gena’s direction, Donna’s time is scheduled. She is all business when she shows up. If you have a horticulture question, she can likely answer it or give you direction. Using both sides of her brain throughout the day, her first goal is always about the plants. Donna has a quality to be able to listen to the homeowners and then orchestrate how Unique Landscaping will best service them. Putting everything on paper in a beautiful well thought out plan that can pass through the seamless divisions of the company, assures those who work with her, their needs will be met.
Using years of design experience, her drawings and projects are true works of art that have come to fruition. Spending any amount of time with Donna will give the feeling of assurance that your outdoor living area will function, be aesthetically pleasing and a true compliment to the environment. Her horticulture degree is from Tarleton State University, which she has been using ever since, including being a Tarrant County Horticulturist for the Texas Agriculture Extension Service. If she doesn’t know an answer, she will problem solve until it is figured out. Her favorite gardens include perennials and flowering shrubs, though she draws and presents all styles. You will find Donna direct and driven and the Mother Earth of Unique Landscaping; always caring for those around her, especially the plants.
You will likely meet Kurt in the retail tree lot or at the job site. He is a degreed horticulturist from Tarleton State University and a top field director in the industry. He wears many hats with shovel in hand! He grows trees at two tree farms, signs off on all projects before initiation and supports the field crews. Collecting all plant material for Unique Landscaping requires him to keep in touch with the growers; their quality, trends, and availability. Once your project is in the pike to be installed, as a licensed irrigator #LI6468, Kurt will retain plant and hardscape materials then direct all the necessary irrigation, over-see drainage & grading. He pretty much has to touch everything.
If your landscape has a challenge, it is Kurt’s duty and desire to figure out a way to solve it, onsite either during the design process, or at installation. He often finds out how to do things others wouldn’t consider or think of. If Donna is all business, Kurt likes to be all pleasure, pointing out the subtle impacts of the environment, noticing the birds, insects, animals & unusual plants. He enjoys everything and anything to be in touch with nature. You will see Kurt again and often to check your irrigation, put out any fires and follow up on concerns. All Unique Landscaping’s bee-related references are directly part of Kurt’s strong commitment as a beekeeper, he is involved in an area beekeeepers association and shares his strong knowledge of the pollinator plants.
Everyone needs a rock. Ismael is our rock. If you can work with Ismael and learn his techniques, you will succeed. Ismael is the lead project foreman and his crew is the first crew you will likely meet or if you are a new hire, the crew you will be on. A no-nonsense, tell me once, don’t change things kind of guy. It’s what keeps us on schedule, allows the employees to have a quality of life where they work hard labor, and go home at the end of the day at a decent time. Nothing scares him or is too hard. If it can be done and we have done it before, Ismael will carry it through. When the work is complete, you will be amazed at the quality. No matter what happens, we always say we do good work.
With Ismael, your landscape will be a beautiful compliment to the environment. He will discuss concerns and when he does, everyone listens; with Kurt and Donna making sure everyone and everything is respected along the way. Ismael joined Unique Landscaping a decade ago and now enjoys the freedom to return to his home country regularly where he built a house, along with the life and family he established here.
